26" Composition body in perfect condition; upper and lower arms have been replaced at some time in the past, so they lack the same glossy finish as the rest of the body. Body is stamped on lower back "Excelsior Germany 6". She has beautiful brown glass sleep eyes, however, her lashes have long ago worn away. At some time in the past, she took a nasty knock on her head which left her with a crack at the pate edge and a hairline crack across her forehead. The repair is quite adequate, considering that the orginal plaster pate appears not to have been removed for the work to be done. As can be seen in the photos, this damage is not seen when the wig is on. She also has a very small chip on her lower eyelid of her right eye (small white spot in picture of eye). I have given her a new human hair wig with braids, and all new clothing, including: a lovely soft pink cotton batiste dress, lace-trimmed cotton drawers and slip, crocheted rayon socks, and German 3 strap shoes. This doll dates from around 1880 to 1910, and predates the very well known 18inch "Daisy " doll introduced in 1911 which used the same mold. $500.00 |
